Hospitable Leadership

Recently, Becky, Shelby, Fawn, and I (Sarah) attended a workshop on Hospitable Leadership. Many of the points were so important that I decided to share them with the whole IPS team — or rather, the part of the team who reads these blogs :).

During the training, Kat Gordon, owner of Muddy’s Bakeshop in Memphis (the same person who facilitated our Fearless Feedback training last summer) outlined 6 key habits of hospitable leaders. At IPS, we encourage all of our staff to become leaders in some capacity, as the lead their clients to success. Over the next few weeks, I’ll outline the 6 key takeaways and break them down for you all.

  1. Hospitable leaders put the mission first.

  2. Hospitable leaders welcome and serve.

  3. Hospitable leaders practice generous authority.

  4. Hospitable leaders set people up to succeed.

  5. Hospitable leaders teach the values.

  6. Hospitable leaders appreciates and celebrates.

Check back in next week for our first full installment on hospitable leadership and how it applies to the culture of IPS.
